About Lisa Booth, BSc, CMP
Lake Waters Holistic Health
Lisa trained in the UK as a physiotherapist in 2000 and continued her studies, branching into the holistic therapies, training as a Swedish massage therapist, as well as in Hot Stone Therapy, opening her own business in England. She came to Ontario in 2005 with her husband, who was working on the Bruce Power Restart Project. They have stayed here ever since and now have 3 children. Lisa went on to work in a spa and continued with her studies here in Ontario, taking a course in Myomassology and Reflexology.
Myomassology simply means "the practice of muscle massage". MYO meaning muscle, MASS relating to massage, and OLOGY meaning practice of. Myomassology came from within the American Massage Therapy movement (AMTA) and our American counterparts are welcomed into the American Massage Therapy Association as full professional memebers. However, in Ontario, this change was not encouraged by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), even though both schools teach Swedish Massage. At this time, we are not permitted to use the word massage in our title, hence the Certified Myomassology Practitioner (CMP) title.
Lisa's interest in holistic therapy was sparked by her own journey into pain management. The use of medicine in Western culture is very high and often more natural effective methods are overlooked. As Lisa has found many benefits from having holistic treatments herself, she has endeavoured to pass on these benefits in her work.
